In Process...

"IN PROCESS... emerges with its own sound, built on the strong foundation of the African American oral tradition. Their repertoire is not Top 40, it's top priority..." ~ Evelyn Harris

In Process... is an a capella ensemble from Washington, D.C., consisting of four African-American women who give powerful voice to what it means to be an African-American woman in the U.S. and the world. Their songs comment on the themes of love, self-respect, family, women, freedom and justice, equality and peace. Their workshops stress an improvisational approach to harmony singing.

In Process... is composed of women from various professions and backgrounds sharing in the oral tradition of African American culture and a love of singing. Protegees of "Sweet Honey in the Rock," from whom they learned their craft, In Process has performed for Black History and Women's History Month programs as well as programs dedicated to peace and non-violence.

IN PROCESS... collectively and individually giving voice to what it means to be African American women in the United States and in the world. Their repertoire includes song commentaries on issues that affect all people: the environment, love and self-respect, substance abuse, AIDS.
